Foreign Minister sends a letter to EU member states regarding Mongolia's tax haven

Minister of Foreign Affairs D. Tsogtbaatar sent letters to High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Policy and Security Policy and Vice President of the European Commission Federica Mogherini, the Presidency of the Council of the EU, Bulgarian Foreign Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Ekaterina Zaharieva, and other foreign ministers of the EU’s 27 member states regarding Mongolia’s inclusion in the EU’s tax haven blacklist.

The letter from D. Tsogtbaatar noted that the Government of Mongolia is willingly to participate in developing open, transparent, and good governance, as well as improving good tax governance and information sharing in accordance with article 38 of the Partnership and Cooperation Agreement between Mongolia and the EU that came into force on November 2017.

The letter also said that Mongolia has already submitted a request to join the Global Forum on Transparency and Exchange of Information for Tax Purposes, and it has become the 111th state to adopt the OECD's base erosion and profit shifting (BEPS) measures on preventing tax avoidance.
