German athlete Guido Kunze to set Guinness record by cycling in Mongolia

Guido Kunze, an extreme sports athlete from Germany, planned a 2,600 km cycling trip from the western border of Mongolia to the eastern border in order to set a new Guinness record. He is currently on the seventh day of his journey and passed through Ulaanbaatar yesterday after covering 350-400 km per day.

Extreme sports athlete Guido Kunze said, "This is the first time I have come to Mongolia, which has a large territory and a small population. Mongolians are friendly people. There are many differences between Mongolia and Germany, but during my trip, I noticed a lot about what the two countries can cooperate on."

Guido Kunze was born in 1965 and in 2005 left his car business to set the world record in extreme cycling. He holds several world records. For example,

  • Traveled 4,200 km from the west end of Australia to the east end in the shortest time.
  • Cycled up to the world's highest volcano, Nevado Ojos del Salado volcano in the Atacama Desert of Chile at a height of 6233 meters.
  • Passed 100,000 vertical meters of the Alps in 14 days.
  • Cycled the longest travel on the Great Wall of China.
