Four companies licensed to export meat to Chinese market

In 2014 Mongolia expressed interest to export heat processed meat, reportedly  beef, lamb and goat to Chinese market.

According to this request delegation of inspectors from Certification and Registration Department at the Quality Control Quarantine Authority in PRC conducted research and studies at Mongolian meat processing manufactures.

At that time meat processing manufactures were not corresponding to some of the quality standards, while the risk assessment was passed. In this regard, Special Inspection authority paid special attention on elimination of issues and sent the report to the Chinese side last month.

Certification and Registration Department at the Quality Control Quarantine Authority in PRC granted the licenses to export meat produce to Chinese market to following entities:

  1. Makh Market LLC and Mongol Eco Makh LLC to export 20 types of beef and lamb meat produce processed with heat 
  2. Makh Market LLC, Green Grace Land LLC, Mongol Eco Makh LLC and Darkhan Meat Food LLC beef and lamb slaughter houses and supply heat processed raw material to other meat processing factories
  3. Khaan Khuns LLC to export frozen horse meat buuz and dumplings
  4. Mongol Eco Makh LLC and Darkhan Meat Food LLC to export the frozen whole horse meat.

Meat demand on Chinese market is increasing year by year.

According to the report from the National Development and Reform the amount of lamb per capita in 2010 was at 3,01kg and increased to 3.23 kg in 2015.

Import of lamb meat:

  • 82,7 thous tons in 2011
  • 123,7 thous tons in 2012
  • 254,0 thous tons in 2013.
