Rights4Health 2018 is a multi-disciplinary health and human rights conference focusing on human rights as positive social determinants of health for LGBTI people and other minority populations. We hope this conference will contribute to Mongolia’s actions to address the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals theme of “leave no-one behind”.
Three international keynote speakers have been secured:
Associate Professor Ruth McNair, Department of General Practice, University of Melbourne, Australia. Ruth’s research focuses on health and health services issues for diverse populations. She is active in LGBTI policy and community development, including with the Victorian Government.
Dr Nathanial Reid, General Practitioner, Northside Clinic, Melbourne, Australia. Nate has particular interest in mental health and transgender health. He has been involved with several LGBTI community organisations, including Switchboard Victoria and Bent TV where he was co-host of the series 'Transmission', a program dedicated to trans and gender diversity.
Professor Nisha Dogra, University of Leicester, UK, is a child and adolescent psychiatrist whose research interests focus on integrating diversity through medical education curricula.
The Conference is a project of the LGBT Centre, Mongolia and is supported by a Direct Aid Program Grant from the Australian Embassy in Mongolia. It represents a significant step forward in the recognition of the health needs of marginalized populations, especially LGBTI people, in Mongolia.
Registration is free for Mongolian health practitioners and interested community members. A limited number of travel and accommodation scholarships will be available by application to Mongolian healthcare professionals outside Ulaanbaatar. Accreditation for professional development credits is being sought from the Health Development Centre.
