The European Union (EU) has awarded full scholarships to ten (10) Mongolian students under the Erasmus+ Programme. Each of the 10 students will embark on a master’s programme for up to two years in at least two universities located in different European countries. They will have the opportunity to earn a master’s degree at the end of their programme.
Ms Axelle Nicaise, EU Ambassador to Mongolia, hosted the awardees for a send-off gathering to wish them a rich experience and success in their future studies.
“It is great to see many young people striving to study in Europe. The Erasmus+ programme provides a unique opportunity to experience Europe and grow both academically and professionally at top-quality universities. For the 2021-2027 period, the Erasmus+ programme has nearly doubled in available funding. We will therefore make every effort to ensure that many more young Mongolians know that these opportunities exist for them." said Ambassador Ms Axelle Nicaise.
Moving to another country to study is exactly what many current and prospective students are seeking. What makes Erasmus+ experience unique is that it offers exactly this, and more. Students get the opportunity to experience the rich diversity of multiple countries, cultures, traditions and academics in Europe
EU Delegation staff also joined the send-off gathering to share their personal experiences with the students on the new lifestyles they will meet in the respective European countries of study. They shared their insights on culture, academics, food, health, social life, and language, to prepare the students for a memorable and insightful experience.
In Mongolia, more than 160 people have benefitted from the programme between 2014 and 2020. Apart from master’s scholarships, the Erasmus+ programme offers a multitude of opportunities for people of all ages: bachelor students, academics, researchers, and more, helping them develop and share knowledge and experiences at institutions and organisations across all the countries that make up the European Union.
2022 marks the 35th anniversary of Erasmus+, the EU's flagship programme for education, training, youth and sport. As of 2020, Erasmus+ supported almost 640,000 people in their studies, traineeships or voluntary work abroad. It funded around 126,900 organisations and some 20,400 projects.
