Ministry of Industry made an official introduction on the EPA between Mongolia and Japan.
Introductory session was attended by the ministry officials in charge of Trade Policy Cooperation, senior specialists, manufacturers, professional associations, private sector and exchanged their views.
Mongolia and Japan EPA is the first of its kind for Mongolia and 15th for Japanese side.
Currently the member countries of WTO have established over 580 regional free trade agreements, therefore 160 member countries of WTO are engaged in regional and free trade agreements. The first EPA with Japan is opening doors for Mongolia to the regional economic integration.
Japan opening up its market with 127 million popupation to Mongolia is seen as the political and economical support as well as the opportunity for Mongolia to stand as economic cooperation partner country, not just as the recipient of grants.
The aim of the EPA agreement with Japan provisions free trade, investment and export of value added industrial products, introduction of technological know-how to Mongolia, reduce obstacles in trades with Japan and ease the customs clearing procedure for Mongolian products such as textile, leather, shoes and food products.
