Yesterday, Mr. Kadir Topbas, Mayor of the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality, arrived in Ulaanbaatar to pay an official visit.
In scope of his visit, Mr. Kadir Topbas paid a courtesy call on Prime Minister Ch.Saihanbileg, Head of City Council D.Battulga as well as signed Memorandum of Cooperation between the Istanbul and Ulaanbaatar.
Mr. Kadir Topbas is accompanied by 14 guests including his advisors and representatives of Council of Istanbul, Head of Governor`s Office as well as state-owned companies. His visit will continue for two days.
UB will cooperate with Istanbul to improve the source of drinking water
Following the guests led by the Mayor of the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality met with UB City Mayor E.Bat-Uul.
During the meeting, Mr. Kadir Topas expressed his interest in cooperation with UB on mega projects of construction, urban planning, improvement of drinking water source and waste management.
City Governor and the City Mayor E.Bat-Uul said that UB need to cooperate and share experiences with Istanbul on several sectors. Especially, two cities need to jointly implement the "Tuul pool" prject based on Tuul river. Moreover, he proposed to work on increasing the tourism sector.
The Head of City Council D.Battulga expressed his interest to cooperate on projects directed at decreasing the air and soil pollution as well as ger-area re-planning. Also he expressed that UB is ready to cooperate on developing the public transportation service and increasing tourism.
Istanbul receives 10 million tourists annually and it became the main tourism destination of Europe. They noted that direct flights between the UB and Istanbul need to be increased in order to develop the tourism of UB.
Parties agreed to open representative office of Istanbul in UB.
Parties signed Memorandum of Cooperation (MoC) in several sectors in order to develop the relations between the two cities, establish brotherhood city relations and to exchange experiences.
According to the MoC, two cities will cooperate on "Mongol Naadam" complex, urban planning, ger-area re-planning, establishment of Turkish housing town, production of construction materials, engineering and infrastructure sectors.
Moreover, they agreed to focus more on introduction of new technology to produce meat and milk products, establishment of Turkish small and medium-sized industrial town as well as supporting investment in tourism sector.
In scope of the MoC, two cities to establish representative offices, trade and cultural centers within 2016.
